Consume my heart away; sick with desire
And fastened to a dying animal
It knows not what it is; and gather me
Into an artifice of eternity.

~For J.H.~

The eye of the mind
Is watching the mind
From the inside-out —
And what's showing
In a jungle-full of leers
Is Priapus' phallus
Lancing the flaccid air:

Now wide-eyed
Narcissus finds him
Prostrate on the floor,
Wallowing and babbling
In a pool of piss,
And stewed to the haft
In primal stupefaction.

Sewage surges around
And what rises
Floats and spills
Into Forgetful-mess —
Eyeless eyes fix
One another and gawk
In the dumb-struck dark.
